Bring Oracy to Life with Podcasting in Your Classroom
Your Podclass: A Voice for Every Young Person
Your Podclass is an exciting, hands-on podcast workshop designed to nurture oracy for every child in your setting.
Using professional broadcasting equipment and techniques, each workshop gives your young people the chance to plan, speak, listen, question, respond, and reflect—all while creating their very own mini-podcast episode, inspired by a curriculum topic you're exploring in class.
Led by me, Al Booth — a fully DBS certified former BBC & commercial radio presenter, and now a podcast producer working on education titles —Your Podclass helps young people become confident in sharing their voices and ideas as individuals and as a broadcast team.
Every workshop is tailored to your learning goals and developing your pupils’ unique personalities, all whilst focussing on the importance of oracy in the curriculum.
Whether you're encouraging storytelling, discussion, presentation or listening skills, Your Podclass develops the spoken language skills at the heart of great communication.
Key Stage 1 pupils might script and record their lines, one at a time—perfect for building confidence in early spoken language and storytelling.
*
Key Stage 2 students could create an interview-style podcast, developing questioning, listening, and summarising skills.
*
KS3 and KS4 learners might record a live, debate-style podcast—learning how to express viewpoints, build arguments, and listen actively to other.
*
From Early Years to school leavers the goal of Your Podclass is the same: to help every student develop confidence, clarity, and creativity through spoken language—and to enjoy doing it!
🎙️ On the Day
Your class gets the full studio experience right in your school. They’ll not only plan and record their episode but also choose music, sound effects, and how their show sounds—bringing their voices to life.
🎧 After the Workshop
Once recorded, I take the audio back to my home studio where I carefully edit and produce each contribution into a polished podcast episode.
You’ll receive:
A high-quality audio podcast
A companion video
Both are sent via email, ready for you to download and share with your school community, and most importantly—your stars.
Oracy has never been more focal for educators... which is whyYour Podclass has been created.

"Make sure that the national curriculum requirements for spoken language are translated into practice, so that pupils learn how to become competent speakers. This should include opportunities to teach the conventions of spoken language, for example how to present, to debate and to explain their thinking."
